Choosing the right technology

Plasma and LCD TVs look the same, but they are not. Some features or choices don’t differ a lot, but these are the major differences:

Size

If you arfe looking for an extra huge TV, go for a plasma. Plasma TVs are the current size champions, particularly when comparing TVs that buyers may effortlessly purchase. LCDs are catching up in size with their constructing technology, however, and may surpass Plasmas in the near future. This may be due to troubles in manufacturing glass huge sufficient for more spectacular plasmas.

Burn-ins

With the latest plasma technology, this is less of an issue than ever before. The Pixel Orbitor, for example, is a method of reducing burn-in applied by plasma manufacturers. It requires no further and added programing from the end user as a great deal of older burn-in preventative action proficiencies did.

Note: If you plan to use a plasma for gaming, galore games with permanent ‘dashboards’ may still cause numerous burn-in. If you will be using the television for display use only, go for an LCD. Plasmas are more likely to get burned-in pixels.

Miscellaneous

- LCD TVs are far less fragile than plasmas. This is also an vantage when the tv set has to be shipped or moved to a dissimilar location.

- LCD TVs are also much having little impact to install than plasma TVs.

- LCD TVs have a better performance at high altitudes.

- LCD TVs are ofttimes for less than plasma TVs. The divergence in pricing is getting smaller, however.

Ofcourse, all this info is available all over the web. For a elaborated comparison sheet, I commend using Wikipedia’s comparison sheet.

4Sony MHC-EC69i/C2 Mini Hi-Fi Shelf System
By Mike Thorn “Mike”
I researched a lot to replace my old system and selected this one based on my requirement for MP3 and radio. I discovered that Hi-Fi shelf systems are not popular any more and # of models is very limited if you do not want to spend over $100.
I have it for a couple days and generally like it:
- it is a new one (Jan 2011);
- relatively cheap ($88, Walmart online);
- equalizer has about 6 options (3 on earlier model);
- sound is not bad for small size unit from CD and FM (loud enough for 300 sq feet room with 25 people).
- I think it has no more than 30 W per channel (not 50 W as advertised). There is a cooling fan inside, it kicks on when you use on high output power over 15 units on volume;
- headphone jack;
- long range remote control (up to 20 feet as tested).
What I do not like:
- a bit akward and looks cheap design;
- no input from other sources (line in or USB);
- very weak AM radio reception (needed to open its case to retune to improve to acceptable level);
- display is too small;
- it does not remember last song on CD if you switch to other modes like FM and return back to CD, you have to start from beginning.
With over 200 songs on MP3 CD it is very inconvient.

5A bargain at twice the price
By Jerry White
This unit performs exceptionally well and is priced far cheaper than inferior models. I’ve not found a better value in a sound system and have started buying them for gifts (in addition to the one I keep in my office).
